A business plan, a product, customers, a value proposition…. There are many opinions and pieces of advice out there. I will not tell you how to do it. I will just share how I’m doing it and then you decide what suits your way of thinking.
Georgia & Molly already had good enough business for a starter, tons of experience in tech and some in building and running small businesses, so why not start somewhere else than the more traditional way.
Hence, we onboarded Mary Lee the most amazing Product Storyteller there ever has been:
Storytelling - an ancient art, honed to perfection by American presidential campaigns. And of course people in advertising at least back in the days of “Mad Men”.
Still, there is something there. We humans are after all emotional beings and we will react emotional so why not jump in and exploring the fluffier parts of business life:
What am I striving for, dreaming of? Emotions I want to be associated with. How do I want the customer to feel?
To no surprise I aim high, the reaction I want to have at the lunch table when you casually drop that you are working with Georgia & Molly to scale your R&D is:
“Wow, can’t believe you got Georgia & Molly to work with you”.
After workshops, calls and some serious creative work by Mary Lee the insights are packaged into a ballad. No, not a ballad. The Ballad. The Ballad of Georgia & Molly. It tells our story, what we want, how we will do it, how we want you to feel. It’s on our webpage. Obviously.
PS. If you want a more conventional view on how to build your own business one of the best books at the moment is:
“Rework” by Jason Fried, David Heinemeier Hansson.
